Sue has been with Didsbury Drawing from the beginning and indeed had been life drawing in Cecile’s garage for years before the group was formed.
She said: “Drawing from a life model is basic to me in trying to grasp the structure and stresses of the particular body” and it constantly informed her work as a printmaker. She enjoyed the unique environment of drawing within the group, the wondrous individuality of the human form, and particularly relished the uninhibited directness of drawing from quick poses.
Diagnosed with Alzheimer’s some six years ago, Sue is no longer able to make the etchings which were the central focus of her work for so many years. However she continued to embrace the discipline of life drawing with the group right up until the pandemic, declaring it “not fun, but hard and rewarding work”!
Sue is a member of MAFA.
